Yoco Overview

Yoco is one of South Africa’s largest financial platforms for small businesses, offering a seamless and cost-effective payment solution with no upfront, monthly, or payout fees. It supports daily payouts, quick sign-up, and on-site integrated payments, providing a unified and comprehensive payment experience for merchants.

Benefits of Yoco Payment Gateway:

  • No Upfront Costs: The gateway seamlessly integrates with all Yoco payment solutions without any upfront fees.

  • Low Transaction Fees: Card transaction fees start at 2.95% ex. VAT, while EFT fees start from 2% ex. VAT. More details on fees can be found on Yoco's pricing page.

  • Secure Transactions: Yoco's system is 3D Secure and PCI compliant.

  • Wide Card Acceptance: Accepts all MasterCard and VISA debit and credit cards, including international cards, swipe cards, chip and PIN, and SASSA cards. (Excludes Fleet / RCS / Diners / AMEX / Petrol cards.)

The Yoco Payment Gateway is accessible to all Yoco customers and can be activated directly within the Yoco Business Portal. For new customers, the option to enable online payments is available during the sign-up process. Once integrated, customers can immediately begin processing transactions.


How to Set Up Yoco Payment Gateway for Ivonto Store

  1. Log in to Your Ivonto Admin Panel: Navigate to Settings → Payments in your admin panel.

  2. Add Payment Method: Click on the "Add payment method" link.

  3. Select Yoco: If available with your store currency, select "Yoco" as your payment provider. If not, follow the steps below to change your store currency.

  4. Enable Payment Method: In the "Enable payment method" section, toggle the switch to enable Yoco.

  5. Enter Credentials: Enter the "Secret Key" from your Yoco account. Then, click on the Submit button.

Enable Sandbox Mode for Testing

  1. Access More Options: On the same page, click on "More options."

  2. Enable Sandbox Mode: Toggle the switch to enable Sandbox mode.

  3. Enter Test Keys: Enter the same keys in the "test Secret key" input box to test the Yoco payment method at checkout.


Yoco Supported Currencies

Yoco only accepts payments in South African Rands (ZAR). Goods or services need to be listed in ZAR on your store. Customers can pay with an international card, and the customer's bank will handle the automatic currency conversion to ZAR.

Yoco Isn't Available with Your Store Currency

If Yoco isn't available due to your store currency, you need to change your store's currency.

How to Change Your Store's Currency

  1. Navigate to General Settings: Go to Settings → General in your Ivonto admin panel.

  2. Access Standards and Formats: Click on the "Standards and formats" settings.

  3. Select Supported Currency: From the Currency dropdown menu, select a currency that Yoco supports.
