Navigation Menus Overview

Store navigation menus are crucial for guiding visitors through your online store. Acting as visual roadmaps, these menus provide a list of links to key sections of your store, such as the home page, product collections, individual products, blog, contact page, and more. With Ivonto, you can fully customize these menus to suit your needs, helping your customers find what they’re looking for quickly and easily.

Default Menus in Ivonto

Ivonto automatically creates two primary menus for your store:

  1. Main Menu: Located in the header of your store, the Main menu typically includes links to product collections, the "About" page, and the "Contact" page. This menu serves as the primary navigation tool for visitors.

  2. Footer Menu: Positioned at the bottom of your store, the Footer menu includes links to legal pages, as well as the "About Us" and "Contact Us" pages.

Both menus are highly customizable, allowing you to add new pages, collections, and even custom URLs. You can also create submenus and mega menus to further organize your store’s content.

Customizing the Main and Footer Menus

Adding new items to your store’s navigation menus is a straightforward process. To customize your menus by adding new pages, collections, or URLs, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your store's admin panel.

  2. Navigate to the "Navigation" section under Sales Channels → Online Store.

  3. Click on the menu you want to modify, either the "Main Menu" or "Footer Menu".

  4. Click the "Add Menu Item" hyperlink.

  5. A modal window will appear, where you can:

    • Provide a name for the new menu item.

    • Select the source for the menu item (e.g., a specific page, collection, or URL).

  6. Click the Save button.

By following these steps, you can easily expand your navigation menus, making your store more user-friendly and enhancing the overall browsing experience for your visitors.

Creating Submenus and Mega Menus

Submenus and mega menus allow you to organize your navigation menus into a hierarchical structure, making it easier for visitors to explore different sections of your store. Here’s how to create them:

Creating a Submenu

  1. Log in to your store's admin panel.

  2. Go to the "Navigation" section under Sales Channels → Online Store.

  3. Select the menu you want to modify, either the "Main Menu" or "Footer Menu".

  4. In the menu editor, find the menu item that you want to serve as the main parent item for the submenu.

  5. Drag and drop the desired menu item underneath the main parent item to include it in the submenu.

  6. Arrange the submenu items in the desired order by dragging them up or down within the submenu.

  7. To access additional configuration options for each item, click the arrow on the right side of the item.

Example of Creating a Submenu and Mega Menu

  • By dragging the pages named 'Terms and Conditions' and 'Policies' under the 'Legal' menu item, you create a submenu.

  • By further dragging 'Refund Policy', 'Privacy Policy', and 'Shipping Policy' pages under the submenu named 'Policies', you create a mega menu for the 'Legal' item.

Additional Configuration Options

When you create a submenu, each submenu item is treated like a regular menu item. This means you can configure additional settings, such as Link Title and Link rel, for each submenu item. This level of customization allows you to fine-tune the navigation experience, making it easy for your customers to find exactly what they’re looking for.

By using submenus and mega menus, you can create a well-organized, hierarchical navigation structure that enhances your store’s usability and helps visitors access specific pages or collections with ease.
